I think sometimes we feel guilty or that we are not allowed to have negative feelings. We feel we aren't worthy of grace. We feel that our struggles changes the way God sees us. But I've learned that these things are far from the truth.
God calls you His masterpiece. Even the broken and messy parts of us, He calls beautiful. He loves us just the same and calls us worthy. You are His child and precious in His eyes. It is okay to not be okay. You are accepted and loved by your Heavenly Father, just as you are.
God welcomes all our emotions, even the negative ones. He does not try to stay away from your pain like it’s a bad part of you. He doesn’t want you to hide your broken pieces or pretend to have it all together. Instead He wants to come into the darkest parts of your life and bring light to them. He wants you to let Him into your mess and to comfort you. He wants to make beauty out of the ashes. He wants to whisper comfort to your pain. He wants to give you strength to withstand whatever comes your way. He meets us right where we are, even in the depths of our pain.
“Jesus wept.” - John 11:35 / A simple yet powerful verse. It’s such a good reminder that He sees our pain, and He understands, even when it feels like no one else does. Jesus felt every emotion while He lived here on earth. He knows how you feel and is there to comfort you. I’m so thankful for our God who is understanding of all our circumstances and feelings. We will always be welcomed into Jesus’s arms, fully forgiven and unconditionally loved.
The world around us may tell us to put on a brave face, but Jesus shows us that true courage acknowledges pain. True courage is chasing after the Lord, even when life doesn’t make sense. True courage is surrendering to the One who understands our tears, who is close to the brokenhearted.
And there is hope because the One who wept is returning, and on that day our wounds and scars will be healed, and every tear will be wiped away. ♡
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. - Psalm 34:18
