Like Soft-Falling Snow ❄️

On Sunday morning, I woke up to something I didn’t expect—snow. In Georgia, that alone feels like a gift. I wrapped myself in warmth and sat on the front porch with my dad, hot chocolate in hand, watching it fall. There was a quiet joy in the moment, the kind that settles into your soul and reminds you how breathtaking God’s creation truly is.

That quiet beauty brought a familiar song to mind: “Winter Snow” by Audrey Assad (lyrics at the bottom) I’ve loved this song for years, but lately it has been speaking to me in a deeper way. Life has a way of reshaping how we hear truth. Seasons change us, and suddenly words we’ve known for a long time begin to carry new weight.

The song reflects on the way Jesus entered the world—not with noise or power, but with stillness and humility. No spectacle. No announcement fit for a king. Just a baby, born into the silence of night. It’s striking to consider that the Savior of the world chose such a gentle arrival. And even more striking is that He lived His entire earthly life with that same posture—steady, compassionate, unhurried. Fully aware of His mission, yet never demanding attention or authority for its own sake.

In this current season of my life, the song feels different than it once did. Its words now feel like a whisper of comfort—meeting me in days that have felt heavy, uncertain, and at times dark. While I know God is fully capable of displaying His power in obvious and dramatic ways, He has instead chosen tenderness. A quiet presence. Faithful reminders that He is near, that He is working, that He has not stepped away from my story.

God often moves more softly than we expect. Slowly. Gently. Like snow falling without sound, yet covering everything in time. Even in the valleys, He is present. Even when the future feels unclear, He is steady. He is authoring something meaningful—something only He could write.

If you find yourself in a season that feels quiet or uncertain, know this: God is still moving. He is still good. He still holds your future, and His plans are filled with hope. Make space for Him. Lean into the stillness. Trust the quiet ways He comes to us.

Just as He did that holy night—soft, humble, and full of promise. Come, Thou long-expected Jesus. We are ready for You. ❄️

A hymn:

Jesus paid it all

All to Him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain

He washed it white as snow

"Winter Snow" by Audrey Assad:

Could've come like a mighty storm

With all the strength of a hurricane

You could've come like a forest fire

With the power of Heaven in Your flame

But you came like a winter snow

Quiet and soft and slow

Falling from the sky in the night

To the earth below

Oh You could've swept in like a tidal wave

Or an ocean to ravish our hearts

You could have come through like a roaring flood

To wipe away the things that we've scarred

Ooh no, Your voice wasn't in a bush burning

No, Your voice wasn't in a rushing wind

It was still, it was small, it was hidden
