When Believing Gets Tired

Words From My Heart 🤍
✨ I’m not tired because I’ve stopped believing. I’m tired because I’ve been believing for a long time.
And I think there’s a difference.
Sometimes people see your exhaustion and assume your faith must be getting weaker. They see the tears, the frustration, the questions, the days when you don’t have the energy to pray, and they may wonder if you’ve stopped trusting God.
But sometimes being tired doesn’t mean you’ve stopped believing.
Sometimes it means you’ve been holding on for a very, very long time.
I’ve kept trusting through pain that won’t let up, a body that doesn’t always cooperate, flares that steal my plans, limitations I never asked for, and prayers that still seem unanswered.
I’ve prayed for healing.
I’ve prayed for strength.
I’ve prayed for relief.
I’ve prayed for answers.
And there have been so many moments when I’ve wondered, “How much longer, God?”
Chronic illness has taught me that faith isn’t always loud.
Sometimes faith looks like crying in the bathroom because you’re overwhelmed and don’t want anyone to see.
Sometimes it looks like taking another handful of medications and hoping they will help you make it through the day.
Sometimes it looks like canceling plans because your body simply won’t let you go.
Sometimes it looks like grieving the things you thought your life would look like.
Sometimes it looks like lying in bed exhausted, wondering why something that seems so simple for everyone else can feel so difficult for you.
And sometimes faith is nothing more than whispering through tears,
“God, I’m still here.”
I’m still trusting You.
I’m still reaching for You.
I’m still choosing You.
Even if I don’t understand.
Even if I’m disappointed.
Even if I’m tired.
Even if I don’t know when things will change.
Because I’m learning that faith doesn’t mean I have to pretend that everything is okay.
Faith gives me permission to be honest with God.
I can tell Him that I’m hurting.
I can tell Him that I’m tired.
I can tell Him that I don’t understand.
I can bring Him my disappointment, my questions, my grief, and my fears.
And I don’t have to hide any of it.
Waiting hasn’t made me weak.
It has taught me something I never wanted to learn: faith isn’t only found in breakthroughs—it’s also found in staying.
It’s found in choosing to trust when I’m exhausted.
It’s found in praying when I don’t have the words.
It’s found in opening my Bible when my heart feels numb.
It’s found in worshiping through tears.
It’s found in getting up and trying again after another difficult day.
It’s found in believing that God is still good, even when life is painfully hard.
Sometimes I wish I had a beautiful testimony of how God answered every prayer exactly when I wanted Him to.
But maybe there is also a testimony in the waiting.
Maybe there is a testimony in the fact that I’m still here.
Maybe there is a testimony in every time I thought I couldn’t take another step, but somehow God gave me enough strength for the next one.
Maybe there is a testimony in every tear He has seen, every prayer He has heard, and every moment I have held onto Him when I didn’t understand what He was doing.
I don’t know what tomorrow holds.
I don’t know when my circumstances will change.
I don’t know which prayers will be answered the way I hope they will be.
But I do know this:
My circumstances may not have changed yet, but the One I’m trusting hasn’t changed.
God is still God in the waiting.
He is still good on the painful days.
He is still faithful when I don’t understand.
He is still near when I feel alone.
And He still loves me when I have nothing left to give.
So if you’re in a season of waiting right now, I want you to know that being tired doesn’t mean you’re failing.
You can be weary and still have faith.
You can cry and still trust God.
You can have questions and still love Him.
You can struggle and still be held.
You don’t have to have a perfectly strong faith every single day. Sometimes faith is simply holding onto the little bit of hope you have left and trusting that God can hold onto you when you can’t hold onto Him.
🌸 If your faith feels weary, cling to the One who declares you as enough and meets you exactly where you are.
You don’t have to earn His love.
You don’t have to be stronger before you come to Him.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
Come tired.
Come hurting.
Come confused.
Come exactly as you are.
He sees you.
He knows your heart.
He knows how long you’ve been waiting.
And He hasn’t forgotten you.
You are loved. You are seen. You are held. And even here—even in the waiting—you are not alone. 🤍
