Shine your light

The past 3 days God has given me signs about light. From my devotional, verse of the day, Bible study, and a card. I love how how God shows himself in ways like this. It’s so cool. So, I wanted to talk about shining your light.

When I think about darkness, I’m reminded of this world. We live in a dark world because of sin. Sin separates us from God, who is the very one who is the Light. If we’re not connected with God, we wouldn’t have any true light. But God hasn’t called us for a life like this. He has called us to join Him in shining His light to the world.

I look back on my life and see a lot of darkness. It wasn’t what I wanted, but I was stuck and afraid.  I remember one night I was in bed crying out to the Lord, desperate for help. And as I lay there in the darkness, I hear my music with a song called “Open up let the light in” by Steffany Gretzinger. That’s simple the only words it says and I felt them over me. Like God was saying,

“I see your pain

I see you in the darkness.

You don’t have to hold it all in.

Open up yourself and let my light in.”

And He says the same things to you.

God made you to shine for His honor and glory. You are His vessel to reach out to others in need. For the light within can shine brightly for the world around us. We are to be light as He is light

We should desire that people see Jesus in us.

“Let them see you in me”

We need to bring our choices out into the light of Jesus so He can expose the truth. Bring what's really going on out into the light. You were not made for darkness. That’s where the devil wants to keep you. He wants you to hide and step away in fear. God wants you to open up your heart and find freedom. God wants you to shine.

He is our source of Light that will never burn out. And He wants to use you to shine to others and make a difference through God’s radiant love.

God has called us out of darkness and into His wonderful light. He has come to rescue us when we needed help. He saved us from sin and death. And because of that we can walk in His powerful life-giving light. We are now children of the the One True Light.

(Verses and poem below)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. - 1 John 1:7

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. - Ephesians 5:8

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. - Matthew 5:14
