What are you feeding your mind with? 🤍

Yesterday, I got a nerve block done for chronic migraine and daily headaches. I’ll be getting 3 more soon. But it’s been tough figuring out a good treatment. A nerve block is a procedure where a series of injections are given that have pain and anesthetic medicine in them. For migraines, it’s supposed to numb the occipital (back of head) nerves where pain can occur due to irritation. That’s why it’s called a nerve block—because it basically blocks the nerves in the first place to prevent the pain.

Living for God will come with its many set of challenges. One being worldly sin and trying not to get caught up in it. So here’s my point: If we block out things beforehand that can cause sin, we will be less tempted to do so. If we choose to replace the things of this world with things of God, we can face temptation against the enemy. And it will help get rid of the sin that so easily entangles us in this life.

Our minds are constantly exposed to so many worldly things. What we fill our minds with has the power to impact our actions and our directions. We have to be careful what we feed our minds with. What we see, what we watch, what we hear: will effect what we say, do, and think.

We need to check ourselves and recognize if what we are absorbing and thinking is good and helpful for your relationship with God or not. And if its not, we need to change the things we are doing that influenced that.

Some examples of this could be:

• listen to more Christian music then others

• watch a sermon instead of Netflix

• read the Bible instead of a fiction book

• pray instead of social media or phone time

• practice gratitude instead of complaining

You don’t have to take these things away, but by switching them to something more healthier at times, we can make a difference for our mindset and faith. If you block yourself from the distractions of the world in the first place, then there is a much better chance that you can avoid sin and stay strong in your relationship with God.

Colossians 3:1-2 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

I have verse 2 memorized (which I recommend!) because it’s such an important reminder on where our minds should be focused on. It’s a short verse but powerful.  we need to think about the truths of God’s word and let that be our focus every day.
