Here’s a poem I wrote…

“Joy and light”

Keep chasing after pure joy—

Joy in believing this space right here is enough,

Joy to breathe life back into a broken heart,

Joy to hold on to hope when it feels like it’s falling apart.

And keep chasing after the light, no matter the darkness surrounding.

You may not always see where the path of life leads,

but the sparks within you will guide the way.

There is something better, something brighter,

beyond this hollow, shadowed hole—

beauty and details woven into your future,

unique and untold.

The endless light running wild within you,

healing the places left torn.

And maybe holding on to that light

is all it takes to survive.

Even through the darkest nights,

through the tears falling down your face as you began to cry

when you’d rather escape or hide—

know that there is still light calling out to you.

It is not lost, not too far from your reach.

Even if you’re the only one with the might,

there burns a fire in your soul to fight.

So keep looking where the light pours in.

Hold fast to its treasure,

and let the beauty within your heart shine.

This dark world cannot live without your spark.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

- James 1:23
