Walk by faith

Giving thanks and praise to Jesus is so important. Especially when we think about how He died on the cross for our sins. Jesus sacrificed His life to give us ours. We don’t need to see proof to believe in the cross. That’s what faith is all about. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

But yet God spoke to Thomas and His disciples and showed them the holes in His hands and sides. And that is okay, but our hearts should be seeking after God by faith not by sight. Not based on how we feel or if our circumstances are bad. But simply because we know who Jesus is and can feel His love and peace and joy. His presence makes all the difference.

That’s such a beautiful thing to me that Jesus showed His scars, and that it was apart of His story. The scars that we carry in life due to hardships may always be there as a reminder, but God accepts our brokenness and makes us whole. He makes us new. He can turn painful scars into a beautiful truths.

Jesus is good and always faithful to give us His new mercies every morning. The gospel of His life, death, and resurrection changes everything. We should remember it daily and apply it to our lives.

John 20:25-29 says, ““Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
