Let me tell you a story…

Last Sunday, I went to church like I usually do. I truly enjoy going, even when my body is exhausted. It’s always worth it and fills me up in a way nothing else can. It started as just an ordinary day. I arrived about ten minutes before the service began, sat down, and looked around the room.

Then, out of nowhere, an older lady came over to me. We had seen each other several times before. She wanted to tell me that she had been praying for me every single day. That alone was the sweetest thing. She then asked why I use a cane, and I explained that I have a neuromuscular disorder called CMT. She shared that she likes to know specific details when she prays, because she believes there is power in praying intentionally—and I completely agreed.

She then began telling me her story of how God healed her from cancer. It was stage four—at its worst. She had started chemotherapy for a few days, but the doctors told her she would need an invasive surgery with a very high risk of death. Every time she went in for a CT scan, the tumor was there, but each time it was smaller than before. Then one day, after another scan, her doctor called her and told her the cancerous tumor was completely gone. It had disappeared.

That is not something that is possible in this world—but with God, all things are possible. It was a miracle!

I remember her explaining how she prayed and prayed, fully believing God would heal her. She trusted Him, and He took control in the most beautiful way. When things felt the lowest, she held onto the garment of Jesus and refused to let go. I was completely blown away by how God worked through her in His mighty power. She told me this story to remind me of God’s faithfulness and His wondrous works. There is nothing our God cannot do. In His timing, all things work together for our good and for His glory.

I truly needed to hear her story, and it deeply touched my heart. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that I can be healed, because my chronic illnesses are lifelong conditions with no cures. But this moment brought me back to the truth that God can do big things in and through us. We just have to seek Him—keep getting into His Word and keep praying.

I’ll be honest: healing has looked very different for me. I believe God has brought tremendous healing to my mental and emotional state. I was once in a very dark and fearful place for a large portion of my life, and slowly but surely, He healed me—one day at a time. Healing is not a straight line, but when we turn to the Lord, He guides us on the right path.

I may never be free from my conditions while I’m here on earth, but I know that when I reach heaven, all my pain and tears will be gone. I will be renewed with full health and freed from every burden. At the same time, I hold onto the truth that God is a miracle worker, and He absolutely could restore my health here on earth. Either way, I trust Him and His timing, knowing He has the very best purpose for my life. Wherever that leads, I choose to follow.

The service began, and I enjoyed the worship and sermon from our wonderful pastor. But near the end, before worship started again, the same lady came over to me. She sat down and said, “I felt like God wanted me to give you this bracelet.” She admitted she had been nervous and worried it might seem silly—but it truly wasn’t. She pushed past that fear, listened to God, and followed His prompting.

The gold bracelet reads, “God is in control,” which perfectly matched what the pastor had just spoken about. Tears filled my eyes, and my heart was overwhelmed with peace and joy. I told her how much it meant to me and how grateful I was that she gave it to me. It brought a sense of fullness that I didn’t even realize I needed. I am so thankful for this woman and for her courage to speak, listen, and share her heart.

As I wear this bracelet now on my wrist, I’m comforted by everything she shared with me. She inspired me to believe more deeply in healing and to remember God’s faithfulness. She also encouraged me to keep sharing my story and to follow God’s voice and leading. What a beautiful moment. 🤍

I hope that through this story, you are reminded of these truths:

• God is faithful. Even when we are not, He always is.

• Jesus is our Healer. Healing may look different for each of us, but He always provides.

• Our faith impacts others. Our stories can change the outlook of someone’s life.

• God hears our prayers and answers them—even when the answer is no or not yet.

• Nothing is impossible with God. With His mighty power, He can do what seems impossible.
